During the summer after his High school graduation (2001) Nathan enrolled in a one month mountaineering course in Alaska. The course covered mountain safety, backcountry cooking, climbing techniques, ice climbing, crevasse rescue and other skills. The group carried most all our gear with them, but were provided with three re-rations by airplane thanks to pilot Mike Meekin of Meekin's Air Service.
